Stunt Driving Definition
Stunt driving is an offence listed in section 172,1 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

No person shall drive a motor vehicle on a roadway in a race or contest,

while performing a stunt or
-
on a bet or wager

Every person who contravenes subsection (1) is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to
-
a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or
-
to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, and
-
a mandatory 1 year licence suspension

Although section 172 of the HTA makes Stunt Driving an offence, the description of what is Stunt Driving is within Ontario Regulation 455/07.
Stunt Driving Penalties
Stunt driving tickets have serious penalties that can affect your ability to drive, insurance rates and your employment, including:

six (6) demerit points

thirty (30) day licence suspension

fourteen (14) day vehicle impoundment

fine of two thousand ($2000.00) dollars

mandatory 1 year licence suspension upon conviction

imprisonment up to six (6) months

dramatic increase of insurance rates

Careless Driving Definition
Careless driving is a traffic ticket under the Highway Traffic Act, a Province of Ontario provincial law, under the Provincial Offences Act of Ontario.

Careless Diving Penalties
Class G1 and G2 Drivers:

six (6) demerit points for two (2) years

mandatory thirty (30) day licence suspension
-
fine of four hundred and ninety ($490.00) dollars
-
insurance increases for three (3) to five (5) years
-
possible jail for serious offences
Class G Drivers
